- John speaks “grace and peace” to churches living under pressure. What is the difference between biblical peace and circumstances simply becoming easier?
- Read Revelation 1:5. What does each title—“faithful witness,” “firstborn from the dead,” and “ruler of the kings of the earth”—reveal about Jesus? Which title do you most need to hear right now?
- Psalm 89 moves from confidence in God’s promises to the anguished question, “How long, Lord?” What does this psalm teach us about bringing disappointment, confusion, or anger to God?
- Jesus is called the “faithful witness.” Where might following him require you to tell the truth, remain loyal, or resist an easier compromise?
- How does Jesus being “the firstborn from the dead” offer more than comfort about life after death? What difference does it make to believe that God’s new creation has already begun?
- What people, institutions, fears, or circumstances are you tempted to treat as though they have ultimate authority? How does the declaration that Jesus is “the ruler of the kings of the earth” reshape that fear?
- Revelation 1:5–6 says that Jesus loves us, has freed us, and has made us a kingdom of priests. Which of those truths is hardest for you to receive? How might living from that identity change the way you serve others this week?
