Questions To Consider:
- What word, image, or idea from Revelation 2:18–29 stands out to you most? Why?
- Jesus commends Thyatira’s love, faith, service, perseverance, and growth before confronting what must change. What does this teach us about the way Jesus sees and corrects his people?
- The Christians in Thyatira faced situations where faithfulness could affect their work, relationships, and financial security. Where might Christians today experience pressure to compromise in order to succeed, belong, or provide?
- The sermon suggests that we rarely tell Jesus, “You are not Lord”; we more often say, “Not here.” What areas of life are people most tempted to keep separate from Jesus’ lordship? Why are those particular rooms difficult to open?
- What is the difference between struggling to repent and refusing to repent? How can a church offer patience and grace to struggling people without calling destructive teaching or behaviour acceptable?
- Jesus tells the faithful, “Hold on to what you have,” and promises them the morning star—Jesus himself. How does the promise of Christ’s presence help us when obedience is costly? How can the church help carry the practical cost of another person’s faithfulness?
