Questions To Consider:
- Read Isaiah 6:1–8. Trace what happens to Isaiah from the moment he sees the Lord until he says, “Here I am. Send me.” Why does the order matter?
- Isaiah sees the Lord on His throne in the year King Uzziah dies. What difference does God’s unchanging reign make when familiar sources of stability disappear?
- Isaiah acknowledges the uncleanness around him without placing himself above his people. What can we learn from his example about recognizing sin in the world while remaining honest about ourselves?
- Isaiah is cleansed before he is commissioned. Why can receiving forgiveness be more difficult than feeling guilty, promising to try harder, or attempting to prove ourselves useful?
- Isaiah offers himself before knowing the full assignment, and his ministry will not produce immediate, visible success. What faithful step might you be delaying because you cannot guarantee a comfortable outcome?
- As we prepare to enter Revelation, what would it mean to approach the book with “open eyes, open ears, and open lives”? How might the prayer, “Here I am, Lord. Help me take the next faithful step,” shape the way we listen to Jesus?
